How to avoid sleep while studying
1) Study in well Lighted place
When it gets dark, your pineal gland secretes the hormone melatonin, which tells your body to get tired and go to sleep. Blue light, whether from the sun or a laptop, is very effective at inhibiting melatonin production — thus reducing both the quantity and quality of your sleep.
2) Avoid heavy meals
Data shows that eating less fiber, more saturated fat and more sugar throughout the day is linked with lighter, less restorative sleep
3) Avoid bed and sit straight on table
If you're feeling tired, sitting up may help you stay focused and alert. You may also want to try standing up instead of sitting while you're studying. Standing and moving around from time to time may help boost your blood circulation. This, in turn, may prevent you from getting sleepy
4) Take a nap in the afternoon
Change Your Life. "You can get incredible benefits from 15 to 20 minutes of napping," she says. "You reset the system and get a burst of alertness and increased motor performance. That's what most people really need to stave off sleepiness and get an energy boost."
5) Stay hydrated
Your urine output decreases at night, allowing you to sleep six to eight hours without interruption. Drinking a glass or two of water before bed can change this cycle. Sleep deprivation can also adversely affect your heart health
6) get quality sleep
Research suggests that sleep helps learning and memory in two distinct ways. First, a sleep-deprived person cannot focus attention optimally and therefore cannot learn efficiently. Second, sleep itself has a role in the consolidation of memory, which is essential for learning new information. Also if we already have a quality sleep we would less likely get sleep during studying
7) Energy drink
Caffeine, the old standby. Whether it's an energy drink, a spot of tea, or a good old-fashioned cup of coffee, this stuff is sure to help you stay awake. Caffeine is a psychoactive stimulant that increases wakefulness, attentiveness, the ability to focus, and overall energy levels
8) Exercise
Exercising and stretching promote blood circulation which in turn helps you stay awake. Exercise also causes your body to produce more adrenaline and raises core body temperature. Adj Assoc Prof Toh explains, “At night time, the core body temperature slightly drops, setting the stage for a good night's sleep
